Windows Live Photo Gallery
Windows Live Photo Gallery, like Messenger, has been significantly improved in this version. Photo Gallery (as do Movie Maker, Mail and Writer) gains the ribbon in this version (the same interface Microsoft Office 2007 and 2010 + Paint & Wordpad in Windows 7) which means that the features in Photo Gallery are now more noticeable than in previous version when they were hidden in menus. This version of Photo Gallery also uses the Libraries infrastructure if you have Windows 7 to add all of your pictures and videos into the gallery. Photo Gallery now lets you organise your photos by tagging people, geo taging, flagging, rating, captioning, descriptive tagging and date taken, so if you need to find a photo, you can drill down to a very specific photo. It will also recognise people's faces so that all photos that have that person in it will automatically be tagged. Photo Gallery also picks up some great new photo editing tools to add to the already great toolkit. You can now take the best parts of multiple similar photos to make one perfect photo and also create panoramic shots by stitching photos together. Finally you can share them to many online services such as Facebook, Flicker, SkyDrive and Windows Live Groups as well as photo emails. One issue with Photo Gallery in this beta is that the first time you run it, you really need to let it sit for about 20 mins so it can index all your photos, otherwise Photo Gallery often locks up.
