Snow Leopard = Snow Yawn

E-mail Print PDF

Snow Leopard. I prefer to call it Snow Yawn. Leo Laporte prefers to call it Snow Job, whatever you call it, Snow Leopard is basically not a very big event, you can ignore it and not feel guilty. I'd even go so far as calling it a service pack you have to pay for. The Apple Fanboys will hate this article and so if you are one you can either man/women up and take some criticism of the products you use (like Microsoft people do and accept daily), send me an abusive e-mail about it or ignore the rest of this article.

Another Update on My Hackintosh

E-mail Print PDF

I didn't think I'd be able to get my Hackintosh any better than it was before, but I have - partly thanks to Apple (as strange as that may sound). If you have a Hackintosh and are ready to do a bit of fiddling (which I assume you are if you've decided to make a Hackintosh in the first place) then I'd recommend getting the Leopard 10.5.7 update.

My Hackintosh Project

E-mail Print PDF

As some of you would know I've undertaken an increasingly popular project - the Hackintosh (which I also called an iHac). It originally started when Apple moved over to Intel chips and could possibly be one of their worst decisions in terms of keeping a closed OS that would only work on Apple hardware. Since then people have found that the OS X operating system will work on computers that aren't Apple based because OS X is actually based on a UNIX variant called BSD. The only things stopping you from installing OS X on a PC is the boot process and the drivers available for your hardware.

Chameleon Bootloader 2.0 Coming Soon

E-mail Print PDF

For all those who love the idea of running Apple Mac OS X on a non Apple computer then you'll be very happy to know that coming soon is a bootloader which is graphical and supports EFI booting so that you can boot OS X from a Vanilla Kernel.
